Growing up, I was often told things like “you’re too sensitive”, “don’t take it so personally”, “it’s not a big deal, stop taking everything so seriously”, and so on.
Did those comments help? Of course not!
They just made it worse and made me want to hide my true emotions (masking) to protect myself.
But that can often lead to outburst of anger and frustration when we hold our emotions in.

I used to frantically get rid of things… like even things I still needed, but I just couldn’t handle the mess and chaos. 
So I’d toss them. 
But then I kept noticing that I would still always have more to get rid of. 
Until I realized this one key to minimalism that I was missing.
